Ingredients

  • 16 ounces cream cheese at room temperature
  • 8 ounces butter at room temperature
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
  • 3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese the real stuff, and freshly-grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill minced or 1 teaspoon dried dill weed, crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon chives
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Ensure the cream cheese and butter are fully softened at room temperature so they blend smoothly without lumps. Peel and crush the garlic until finely broken down and aromatic.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, butter, and crushed garlic, stirring until the mixture becomes creamy and uniform. Add the remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly, making sure the herbs and seasoning are evenly distributed throughout the cheese.
  • Transfer the mixture into a container just large enough to hold it snugly, smoothing the top. Cover and refrigerate to allow the flavors to meld and develop. Before serving, bring the boursin back to room temperature for the best texture and flavor. Serve alongside crackers for an easy, classic presentation.
