Thoroughly dry the chicken with paper towels to ensure a crispy skin. Generously coat the entire chicken with the prepared spice mixture, making sure to reach every part, including beneath the wings.
Place the chicken, breast side down, into the air fryer basket. Allow it to cook undisturbed for 45 minutes. After this time, carefully turn the chicken over using tongs. Continue cooking until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) as measured with an instant-read thermometer, which should take approximately 20 minutes more.
